COVID 19 Update – 18th October 2021.
It is with much regret that we must announce the postponement of 2022’s Peak to Peak Endurance Race (due to take place Saturday 8th January).
We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment, not only to the athletes, supporters and event sponsors, but also to the Tairua Pauanui community.
This is not a decision that has been made lightly, however, there are two overriding concerns that have led us to this decision at this time.
The first is the uncertainty of current government policy regarding the compliance and future intent for such events, and in particular, what organisational responsibility will need to be in place around event systems and processes. This includes participation rules regarding vaccinated and non vaccinated athletes, as well as future and potential restrictions concerning mass gatherings.
Secondly, our primary concern is always the responsibility we feel towards our athletes, community and sponsors. Until we know more information about border restrictions, lifting of alert levels and mass gathering restrictions being eased, we feel it remains too uncertain to continue planning an event that may or may not be able to take place. It is hoped with more time and a defined government direction, we will be in a better position to plan this event accordingly.
Thank you to those that have registered, we are overwhelmed with the amount of registrations we have received to date. Meantime we will be in touch to provide some options for your registration going forward.
This is a developing situation and one that we will remain committed to for 2022. It is hoped that circumstances might provide us with some confidence and clarity in the coming months.
Get ready to race!
The Peak to Peak Endurance Race returns for 2022, with a similar course to previous years up the two main peaks of Tairua and Pauanui conquered. It is an event that challenges competitors regardless of their ability.
